Track Safety Guidelines

General
1) No racing event is risk free. It is our hope that these guidelines will minimize the risk  and assist race officials to achieve our ultimate goal of hosting SAFE motorsport events.
2) Two MRA Tech Officials should be present at all MRA sanctioned races.
3) The hosting track will need to provide a one million dollar minimum insurance policy.
4) The MRA will provide a checklist with names that will need to be listed on the policy.

Track Layout and Condition

1) The width of each lane will be a minimum of 25 feet.
2) Distance between lanes will be minimum 3 feet, unless a structural barrier is present.
3) Track conditions for MRA Fast Track events should be relatively smooth, free of large rocks and debris and 4 to 12 inches in depth. The amount of water on the track is up to the discretion of the track officials. Standing water is not recommended.
4) A description of the normal track conditions for each event should be printed on the race flyer and posted on the MRA website.
5) The MRA is not responsible for weather changing actual track conditions at the time of the race.
6) Shutdown area length must be a minimum of twice as long as the track length.
7) Shutdown area width should be wider than the width of the racing area.
8) The shutdown area should be smooth, free of obstacles and debris and prepared to create a non-tacky surface.

Spectator Location

1) Spectators should not be allowed within 25’ of race track for the first half of the track length.
2) Spectators should not be allowed within 50’ of race track for the second half of the track length.
3) A structural barrier is required between the track and the spectators.
If no barriers are present, NO SPECTATORS WILL BE ALLOWED BESIDE THE RACE TRACK!
4) Spectators should be provided protection from flying debris in the area directly behind the race track. If a protection barrier is not present, spectators should not be allowed in this area.
5) Every track is different. A safe spectator layout will vary from race to race. MRA representatives will work with race officials to determine the safest possible layout.

Safety Equipment

1) A basic introduction to a mud racing vehicle and its safety features should be given to all safety personnel.
2) Paramedic or EMT and one ambulance mandated on sight before a race starts. ALS crew (advanced life support) and backup ambulance are recommended.
3) Safety personnel only allowed in the shutdown area and next to the race track.
4) CO2 fire extinguishers required on sight. The optimum location for these devices will be determined for each individual venue. Having extraction tools (jaws of life) present is recommended.
